Olam Agri & AGRA Ink MoU to Scale Food & Feed Value Chains
Under the spotlight of the 2025 Africa Food Systems Forum held in Senegal, Olam Agri and AGRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 25 September 2025 to co-develop sustainable food and feed value chains in Nigeria and Ghana, with plans to scale across Africa. The agreement targets core crops like soy, maize, rice, and wheat, while also expanding into poultry, aquaculture, and bakery initiatives. Olam brings its large farm networks, market access, and supply chain infrastructure; AGRA provides expertise in inclusive agricultural systems, capacity building for smallholders, and market linkages. This MoU builds on prior collaboration in Nigeria’s rice value chain (supporting over 5,000 smallholders) and seeks to deepen integration across upstream (inputs, seed, extension) and downstream (processing, traceability) functions. This is exactly the kind of layered, private-public leverage play that distinguishes serious agribusiness from commodity traders. It’s not just about producing more; it’s about building resilient, inclusive chains that lock in value in Africa.
