Flutterwave Payments Partners With Clear Junction to Streamline Africa-Europe Payments

Flutterwave announced a strategic partnership with Clear Junction to speed and lower-cost cross-border flows to the UK and EU, upgrading routing and settlement rails for remittances and business payments. The tie gives Flutterwave access to Clear Junction’s technical rails and routing options, aimed at delivering faster settlement and more competitive FX for merchants and diaspora remittances moving between Africa and Europe.  

Insight: Flutterwave’s partnership with Clear Junction demonstrates how African fintech is solving critical operational challenges that traditional banks cannot address efficiently. By reducing transaction costs and speeding up cross-border payments, African businesses, especially SMEs and digital exporters can scale faster, manage cash flow better, and access international markets more reliably. In the fintech sector we continue to see massive developments such as M-Pesa, Kenya and Flutterwave Nigeria, however, these developments do not appear to be conjuct across the continent as francophone Africa, specifically Central Africa is lagging in these developments. Central Africa is home to about 222 million Africans, accounting for 15% of the African population, however, traditional banking in this area has a market penetration rate of only 40%. This offers significant opportunity for fintech players to move in, provide local solutions and capture the future upside in this market.
