African Leaders Push For Climate Investment at Ethiopia Summit

At the second Africa Climate Summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on September 8, 2025, African leaders emphasized shifting from climate aid to climate investment as a strategy for addressing the continent’s climate challenges. Attended by heads of state, business leaders, scientists, and activists, the summit aimed to unlock funding and promote Africa-led climate solutions. The continent, home to over a billion people, has been disproportionately affected by extreme climate events such as droughts and floods, while lacking sufficient funds to implement renewable energy projects proposed at the 2023 summit in Kenya.
